1. Privacy policy: information about the processing of personal data
In this section, you will find information about how the Universitat Politècnica de València (“the University” or “the UPV,” hereinafter) uses your personal data in connection with the data provided on this website.
Therefore, this information is intended for users of this website who provide their personal data to the University through some of the contact channels.
It is important for you to know that this website is not intended for children under the age of 14, so they cannot provide their personal data to the University without the authorization of their parents or legal guardians.

1.5. How long we will retain your data
Data will be retained for as long as necessary to fulfill the purpose for which it was collected and to determine any potential responsibilities that may arise from that purpose and data processing, as well as until you withdraw your consent. However, data may be retained, as applicable, for public interest archive purposes, scientific and historical research, or statistical purposes.
1.6. Communications to third parties
The Conference Organisers will not disclose your data to third parties unless required by legal or judicial requirements, such as for the formulation, exercise, or defense of claims, or to public and private entities to which it is necessary or mandatory to transfer this data in order to manage the requested service, as legally provided.
This will not prevent providers that provide us with services related to the processing purpose from accessing your data.
Regarding the taking of photographs at events and their dissemination, please note that data may be processed by all those involved in the chain of contracting for such photographs (or accessed by third parties providing services to them) to ensure compliance with this authorization regarding the transfer of image rights. In addition, the data will be communicated to the platforms on which the images are disseminated (YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and any other platform where the University has a corporate account), resulting in an International Data Transfer, as informed in the terms, conditions, and Privacy Policy of these platforms.
1.7. Your rights
You may exercise your data protection rights in relation to the use of your personal data, as recognized in Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data (General Data Protection Regulation, hereinafter “GDPR”) and Organic Law 3/2018, of 5 December, on the Protection of Personal Data and the Guarantee of Digital Rights (LOPD-GDD)).
In particular, you have the right to:
- Access: to find out if your data is being processed or not.
- Rectification: to correct inaccurate data.
- Deletion: to stop processing in specific circumstances.
- Objection: to stop processing in specific circumstances.
- Restriction of processing: to limit the scope of processing in certain cases while ensuring preservation.
- Data portability: to receive the data previously provided or request its transfer to a third party.
- Revoke the consent previously given at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of the processing prior to revocation.
- Submit a complaint to the Spanish Data Protection Agency if you believe that the UPV has not properly addressed any of the above.
To exercise your rights, you should send an email to the Data Protection Officer at the email address: dpd@upv.es, indicating the right you are exercising. Our DPO will inform you if it is necessary to provide any additional information or documents if there are doubts about verifying your identity. If you prefer, you can use the rights exercise templates provided by the Spanish Data Protection Agency. There is a template for each right.

Your data is processed by applying technical and organizational security measures appropriate to the type of data processed, the technology used, and the associated risks, making every effort to prevent unauthorized access to your information, modification, or deletion.

2.1 ¿What are cookies and how they work?
